Schrader International to Help Tire Retailers Reduce Inventory Costs Print E-mail

At the 2009 SEMA Show today, Schrader International, marketer of AirAware™ brand TPMS systems, components and tools, announced the introduction of the EZ-Sensor™ Programmable Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensor, a first-of-its-kind aftermarket sensor that will allow tire dealers and service centers to dramatically reduce the number of TPMS sensor SKUs they need to stock.

Being designed to replace malfunctioning or defective TPMS sensors, EZ Sensors will be capable of being programmed with a sensor ID, the correct sensor protocol and functionality needed to interface with the TPM system already installed in the vehicle.

Today, more than 120 different replacement sensor SKUs are required to service the increasing number of vehicles equipped with TPMS. This can mean either long waits in the service bay waiting for parts to arrive or money tied up in inventory for many sensors that are rarely used.

With EZ-Sensor™, tire dealers and service centers will only need to stock two EZ-Sensor SKUs, to cover over 90% of the market, greatly reducing their inventory requirements. And by using EZ-Sensors, the risk of installing the wrong sensor is greatly reduced.

EZ-Sensor will be programmable using a variety of tools already used by many technicians, including the Schrader 21230 Diagnostic Tool, the Wheelrite TECH400 Plus from Bartec USA, and SPX’s OTC Tire Pressure Monitor Kit.

EZ-Sensor will use Schrader’s patented, proven Snap-In TPMS valve enclosure, helping to minimize installation time while eliminating the sealing and torque issues associated with other manufacturers’ metal stem parts.

Schrader is the global leader in TPMS for automotive OEMs. In the replacement market, the Schrader AirAware and EZ-Sensor brands will encompass a full line of TPMS systems, components and tools that meet OE quality and performance specifications, including sensors, service packs, tools and retrofit kits.
